Tone 61-EZ TC Shear Wrench is designed to be used with Tension Control “Twist Off” Bolts. Tone 61-EZ Shear Wrench installs twist-off bolts and gives you instant installation tension verification. The 61-EZ has an outer socket that turns the nut counterclockwise, while grabbing the spline of the bolt with the inner socket turning it clockwise. Proper tension level has been achieved in the bolt when the spline snaps off. TC bolts make bolt installation easier. Haydon Bolts carries the largest inventory of Tone 61-EZ Shear Wrenches, on the east coast.
Note: Most OLDER 60EZA parts work with the NEW 61EZ wrench but some are different.
Tone Shear Wrenches are designed to work with a Tension Control Bolt assembly, consisting of a twist-off bolt, a nut and a washer. The twist-off bolt is manufactured with a dome head and a spline at the end of the bolt shank. Installation of the bolt consists of inserting the bolt through the steel connection, snug tightening the bolt, nut & washer, as well as all other bolts in the connection. Next, you reengage the Tone Shear Wrench and hold the trigger down until the spline snaps off. Shear wrenches have an inner and outer socket. The inner socket engages the spline, while the outer socket rotates the nut, with both sockets twisting in opposite directions, the spline of the bolt shears off, once the appropriate tension level has been achieved. Inspection is preformed by visually ensuring that the spline has been snapped off. Twist-off bolts are governed by the ASTM specification F3125-15a and have been endorsed by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the Research Council on Structural Connections (RCSC).
